1. Who We Are

Contrivian Inc. is a software-led, carrier-neutral managed connectivity company headquartered at 580 California Street, 12th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94104, United States. Contrivian is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. Big Network, which merged with Contrivian in 2026, is now part of Contrivian, and this policy also covers information collected through former Big Network websites and forms.

This policy covers our websites and marketing activities. Personal information we process when we provide services to business customers, including through the Contrivian NorthStar™ customer portal, is governed by the customer's agreement with us and, where applicable, our data processing terms.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Give Us

  • Contact and inquiry details: your name, work email, phone number, company or organization, job title, the topic of your request and any message you send through our forms, by email or by phone.
  • Meetings and events: details you provide when you book a meeting with us (for example through Microsoft Bookings) or register for a webinar or event (for example through Microsoft Teams), such as your name, email, company and the time you select.
  • Business relationship details: information you share when you request a quote, become a customer, partner or reseller, or apply for a job with us.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, links clicked, time spent and the date and time of your visit.
  • Campaign data: information about how you arrived on our site, such as UTM parameters in the link you followed.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: with your consent where required, we use analytics, session recording and advertising technologies described in our Cookie Policy. Session recordings mask text you type into form fields.

Information From Other Sources

We may receive business contact information from event organizers, partners, resellers, advertising platforms and publicly available professional sources, and combine it with information we already hold.

3. How We Use Information

  • Respond to your questions, schedule meetings and provide quotes and demos.
  • Provide, support and improve our services and websites.
  • Send you information about Contrivian products, events and news that may interest you, where permitted by law. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Understand how our websites are used and measure the performance of our marketing and advertising.
  • Protect our websites and users, prevent spam and fraud, and keep our systems secure.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
  • Carry out business transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions or financing.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Brazil or another place with similar laws, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent for non-essential cookies, analytics, session recording and advertising technologies, and for certain marketing communications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Contract where processing is needed to respond to a request you make or to perform an agreement with you or your organization.
  • Legitimate interests in running and securing our business, communicating with business contacts and improving our services, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligation where we must process information to comply with the law.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information for money. We share personal information only as described here:

  • Service providers who process information on our behalf, such as website hosting, customer relationship management, email delivery, scheduling and meeting tools (including Microsoft), analytics and security providers (including Google), under contracts that limit their use of the information.
  • Advertising and measurement partners (such as StackAdapt and Reddit) when you allow marketing cookies. Some US state laws treat this as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. See Notice for US State Residents.
  • Carriers and technology partners, such as connectivity providers and satellite network operators, when needed to prepare a quote or deliver services you request.
  • Corporate transactions, such as a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets.
  • Legal and safety reasons, when required by law or to protect the rights, property or safety of Contrivian, our users or others.
  • With your direction or consent.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies to run the site. Analytics and marketing technologies only run after you accept them in our cookie banner, and we honor Global Privacy Control signals by keeping marketing technologies off. You can change your choices at any time in Cookie Settings. Details are in our Cookie Policy.

7. International Transfers

Contrivian is based in the United States and works with providers in other countries. When we transfer personal information from the EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Brazil to countries that may not offer the same level of protection, we use appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and their UK and Swiss equivalents.

8. How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to maintain business relationships, meet legal, tax and accounting requirements, resolve disputes and enforce agreements. Inquiry and marketing records are reviewed regularly and deleted or anonymized when no longer needed. Cookie lifetimes are listed in our Cookie Policy.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing.
  • Receive your information in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To make a request, email info@contrivian.com with the subject "Privacy Request." We will verify your identity before responding and reply within the time required by law. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision. You can opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any email.

10. Notice for US State Residents

Residents of California and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws have additional rights. In the last 12 months we collected the categories of information described in Section 2: identifiers and contact details, professional information, internet and device activity, and approximate location. We collected them from you, your devices and the sources listed above, for the purposes in Section 3, and disclosed them to the categories of recipients in Section 5.

We do not sell personal information for money. When you allow marketing cookies, advertising partners may receive device identifiers and browsing activity, which some laws treat as "selling" or "sharing" for targeted advertising. You can opt out at any time in Cookie Settings or by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

11. Security

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Children

Our websites and services are designed for businesses and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Third-Party Sites and Services

Our site links to and embeds content from other companies, such as YouTube videos, Google Maps, Microsoft Bookings and social networks. Those companies collect information under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date and, if the changes are significant, provide additional notice.
